Bauer, Werner

Werner Bauer is a multi-award-winning and exhibited artist of ‘Digital Modernism’. He explores the artistic possibilities in the medium of photography: Reality and the ‘processed reality’ created in the medium of the computer are the starting points of his work. Through experimentation and abstraction down to the essentials, he seeks, finds, and creates metamorphoses: In his series of works “smiling errors”, he penetrates deep into the digital photo file. The results are possible digital structures of a photographic image no longer recognizable as a classical photo. Instead, like an archaeologist, the artist excavates the irreversible primordial pixel.
Interestingly, an “organic form” emerges from the digital processing that is unexpected and also surprising for the artist and the viewer: In all the works he creates with his radical editing process, the artist excavates the elemental and archaic essence of the image, exposing it in a universal primordial state, leaving the viewer free to discern and interpret.
Bauer’s choice of expressive colours is a manifestation of his joy in exploring and discovering, which is transferred to the viewer.
